At Self-ish Academy, our mission is to awaken inner brilliance and develop strong, self-led individuals through the integration of ancient Hermetic principles, sports discipline, and real-life application.
We are especially committed to empowering Black and Brown youth, families, and leaders to:
Master the mind
Break limiting beliefs
Build discipline and confidence
Lead with clarity and purpose
So they can create lives that are self-defined, self-led, and Self-ishly Made.
This work is about remembering who you are and training yourself into who you are becoming.
WHAT SELF-ISH MEANS:
Self-ish is not selfish.
Self-ish means self-aware, self-disciplined, self-governed. I own my mind, my energy, my choices, my habits, and my identity.
It means understanding that your outer world is shaped by your inner world, and taking responsibility for that truth.
When people learn how to train themselves, they stop reacting to life and start creating it.
That is the work of this Academy.

About our Logo
The tree represents you. The different color of leaves represents no matter what season in life you're in, you're thriving, flourishing, and achieving great things. The leaves on the ground (words) represent Self-awareness, which is easy to see and easy not to see. In essence, we want to focus and highlight the good qualities and raise those qualities up in us so that our tree produces the best quality fruit in us. So, we become the tree of life.
THE FOUNDER
Self-ish Academy was founded by Tim Carson Jr., a coach, mentor, and builder shaped by sport, education, leadership, and lived experience.
Through years of adversity, coaching, teaching, and self-study, Tim discovered a truth that became the foundation of this work:
Transformation does not begin with circumstances.
It begins with awareness, discipline, and belief.
Rather than offering motivation alone, Tim built a system.
A way to train the self the same way athletes train for mastery.
His work blends ancient wisdom with modern structure to help individuals of all ages grow with clarity, confidence, and purpose.
This Academy is not about perfection.
It is about progress, ownership, and growth over time.
Message to my Daughter,
I want you to know that you are one of the most beautiful people in the world. You are a queen-to-be, and you know that you come from royalty. You are smart, wise, nurturing, and creative, just to name a few qualities about you. Control your mind, and don’t let anyone control it for you.
I look forward to watching you grow from a princess into a Queen. I want you to know that you are

Sons,
First of all, I want you to know that I love you. It may not always be expressed in words, but it will always be expressed in my actions. You are smart, strong, determined, loving, and caring, just to name a few attributes that will make you a great King. You will be told and shown a lot in a negative light, but I want you to be strong and know just how powerful you are. Control your own mind and don’t let anybody control it for you.
Rise, young King, and know that you are self-ishly made.
